Our
Dogs
We show a few times a year, it’s a
good excuse for a weekend away and we get to meet up with our
friends, who live all over the UK.
We
currently have 4 Finnish Lapphunds in our family; Isla, Rufus and
Mina (Isla's daughter) and our latest edition
Freddie
Both Isla
and Mina had their annual eye test in 2013 and we are pleased to say
that they are both clear of any conditions.
Isla - Honeybears Lumi Pilvi (Snow Cloud) DOB: 9th
June 2009
I was introduced to Carol Stuckey
(Honeybears) by Simon Brown (Lumikoira). Carol had an older puppy
looking for a working home, I wanted a Finnish Lapphund to do
agility. The meeting was arranged! When we met Isla it was love at
first sight, thankfully Carol said Isla could come and live with us.
Isla qualified for Crufts
in 2011 and again in 2012. She really enjoys agility and I am also teaching her some
Canine Freestyle tricks to keep her entertained. I am only lightly
showing her in 2012 as we have a litter planned for later in the
year.

Rufus - Sambreeze Hamara Kaakoa (Dark Chocolate) DOB:
3rd May 2005
Rufus found himself in need of a new
home at 4 years old, due to his owners change of circumstances. I
agreed with Rufus breeder that we would initially foster him because
we had just got Isla who was only 5 months old and we had two much
older dogs who were already coping with a puppy. Because Rufus is
well behaved he fitted easily, it was like we had always owned him
and after a few days It was a done deal for us, he was going
nowhere!
Sadly Rufus was neutered by his
previous owners, despite this he does well in the show ring. His
first show was at the National Working and Pastoral Breeds
Championship Show in July 2011 where he qualified for Crufts 2012
and was placed 4th in his class there. He has also qualified for
Crufts 2013 at the Finnish Lapphund Club of Great Britain. Rufus
got two firsts at the Southern Finnish Lapphund Society Open Show in
Post Graduate and Special Neutered Dog. Rufus will be a Veteran in
July 2012.
In December 2012 we were fortunate to
have a litter of 2 boys and 1 girl from Isla and Glenchess Ilolas
(more) and decided to keep the girl from the litter so
Alkantara Ilo Mina (Mina) came to
be part of our pack.
We are very proud that in August 2013
Mina was awarded Best Puppy in Breed at EELKS.
